TBT – Hong Kong Phooey
Creating your own paper piecing project is not as difficult as it seems. If you have the right tools it is an easy project to do.
1. Find an image that you would like to turn into a paper piecing project. Try to choose a simple image to begin with. Open the image up in Photoshop and make sure there are clean lines everywhere. Use your brush tool to complete lines and fill in where necessary.
2. Open the file in Illustrator. Once in Illustrator use the tracing tool (using the color option in the trace panel). Adjust as you like. Hit expand. Drag all of the pieces to a separate part of your art board. Sort them by color to make for easy cutting. When you are all done save file as an svg file.
3. I used SCAL to cut my pieces with my Bosskut machine. You can also use other cutting machines and software that will allow for svg files to be used.
4. Once it was cut just glue your pieces to your shadow background.
